What does it mean to truly walk together as Church? That’s the heart of synodality—and Jamaica is responding with faith and fervor.
Since Pope Francis launched the global Synod on Synodality, Jamaican parishes have held listening sessions, opened spaces for dialogue, and recommitted themselves to mission and inclusion. Clergy, laity, youth, and elders have all been invited to share their experiences of Church, hopes for the future, and ideas for change.
In St. Elizabeth, a parish youth minister shared: “For the first time, I felt heard by the Church I love.” These conversations aren’t always easy—but they are Spirit-filled.
Bishop Miceal Martin summarized it powerfully: “Synodality is not a project. It’s the Christian life itself—walking, listening, and discerning together.”
As we continue this journey, we pray that the Holy Spirit will guide the Church in Jamaica toward greater unity, justice, and holiness.
