In April, Catholic schools across the Diocese of Montego Bay were celebrated for nurturing not only academic brilliance but also Catholic identity and moral formation. The annual schools’ Mass and Awards Ceremony held at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral was a joyful recognition of excellence in leadership, service, and learning.
Students received awards for outstanding performance, while schools were praised for adapting to modern challenges without losing the heart of Catholic education.
“Our mission is to educate the whole person—mind, body, and soul,” said Bishop Burchell McPherson. “These young people are the future of the Church and of Jamaica.”
Catholic schools like Mt. Alvernia High and St. James Prep continue to set the standard in holistic education—where Gospel values, service, and community are as important as test scores.
